Mildred Bennett Elementary Math Education AwardOver the years OCTM has recognized individuals for their service to the teaching profession. In 1991 OCTM wanted to honor Mildred Bennett and her dedication and efforts for the successes of the Oregon Math Leaders Conference. The next year the honor was extended by naming an award in Mildred’s honor—the Mildred Bennett Elementary Math Education Award focused on outstanding elementary teachers. The criteria for selection include:

OCTM established the Oscar Schaaf Secondary Math Education Award in honor of Oscar’s long-term commitment to improving secondary mathematics education in Oregon. Award recipients exemplify the spirit and dedication Oscar had shared over the years. It was created about a year before the passing of Oscar Schaaf, the Two Meter Man. The criteria for selection are the same as the criteria for the Mildred Bennett award:

The first members of the Hall of Fame were Oscar Schaaf, Mildred Bennett, ad Bill Burger (in memoriam) were inducted at the 1992 Oregon Math Leaders conference. For the Hall of Fame there are two plaques. One is a permanent plaque with the engraved names placed at the Oregon Department of Education. Each individual Hall of Fame-er is given their own plaque as well. The criteria for the Hall of Fame Award is the same as for the Mildred Bennett and Oscar Schaaf awards:
